The BF10 has a convenient longer tiller handle for increased control and reduced steering effort. The extended handle is made of a new lightweight composite for increased durability and weight reduction. The convenient Forward Mount Shift Lever allows fingertip shifting. Twist Grip Throttle and Tensioner allows for superior throttle friction control, minimising driver fatigue.
Reverse exhaust relief
Exhaust gases are diverted away from the propeller while in reverse, allowing the propeller to run in clean water.
Power tilt and gas assist tilt
The BF10 is equipped with Power Tilt and Gas Assist Tilt variations - perfect for effortless engine tilt operations and shallow-water running. Cruising is improved and more comfortable with Honda's unique pendulum-motion mounting system. This system is specially designed to reduce vibration and maximise user comfort. Corrosion protection system
Every Honda engine undergoes an exclusive four-stage coating process for protection against harsh conditions like ultraviolet rays and saltwater exposure. A double-sealed anodising treatment is applied to the aluminium alloy base, followed by the epoxy primer undercoat, acrylic aqua marine silver paint, and finally, the acrylic resin topcoat.
Easy one hand starting
Working together, a built-in decompression release and Digital CDI system set the ignition timing during start-up. Just 60% of the normal effort is required to pull-start the engine by hand! Electric-start models offer Auto Start Enrichment which automatically adjusts the air/fuel mixture for an even quicker, easy starting and warm-up operation. The PGM Ignition (where a reliable microprocessor accurately controls ignition timing during start-up and across the entire rpm range) provides optimum overall operation. There is also a Power Thrust Option Available too.

This air/fuel ratio and ignition-timing technology boosts engine torque at low RPM under rapid acceleration conditions. It’s NMEA compatible, meaning all engine data including speed, fuel consumption, cruising distance, etc can be displayed on the GPS screen
NMEA2000 compliance
All Honda outboards from the BF40 to BF250 are NMEA2000 compliant, allowing simplified connectivity with NMEA2000 electronic equipment such as sonars/fish finders, chart plotters and other devices via CANbus network technology.
Variable Valve Timing & Lift Electronic Control (VTEC)
The VTEC™ system, which optimises power and efficiency at all engine speeds, was born out of Honda’s passion for racing. Innovations like these are now available inside many Honda outboards. Developed for high performance engines, VTEC varies the lift and duration of the intake valves to provide optimum performance at both low and high RPMs. VTEC delivers smooth stable idling at low speeds, while increasing valve lift at higher speeds, which broadens the torque curve and top end power.
Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI)
Honda’s renowned Programmed Fuel Injection is controlled by an advanced Engine Control Unit (ECU). Engine sensors precisely control the supply of fuel to the engine, providing easy starting, instantaneous throttle response and superior fuel economy. (BF40– BF250)
Lean Burn Control
Honda’s Lean Burn Control technology, ECOmo, permits combustion to operate on a leaner air/fuel ratio. Sensors precisely measure the air/fuel mixture, ensuring best fuel economy in cruising mode. (BF40 - BF250).
Trolling control
Trolling Control is available from BF40 - BF150 & BF200-250 (DBW only). Available on selected Honda outboards, engine speed can be controlled in increments of 50RPM from idle speed to 1000RPM/1100RPM (model dependent). The Fresh Water Flush point flushes debris and saltwater out of the engine, extending the life of the outboard.
Longer tiller handle and up-front tiller controls
The BF15 has a convenient longer tiller handle for increased control and reduced steering effort. The extended handle is made of a new lightweight composite for increased durability and weight reduction. The convenient Forward Mount Shift Lever allows fingertip shifting. Twist Grip Throttle and Tensioner allows for superior throttle friction control, minimising driver fatigue.
Reverse exhaust relief
Exhaust gases are diverted away from the propeller while in reverse, allowing the propeller to run in clean water.
Power tilt and gas assist tilt
The BF15 is equipped with Power Tilt and Gas Assist Tilt variations - perfect for effortless engine tilt operations and shallow-water running. Cruising is improved and more comfortable with Honda's unique pendulum-motion mounting system. This system is specially designed to reduce vibration and maximise user comfort. A convenient Forward Mount Shift Lever allows fingertip shifting, while a Twist Grip Throttle and Tensioner ensures superior throttle friction, minimising driver fatigue.
Corrosion protection system
Every Honda engine undergoes an exclusive four-stage coating process for protection against harsh conditions like ultraviolet rays and saltwater exposure. A double-sealed anodising treatment is applied to the aluminium alloy base, followed by the epoxy primer undercoat, acrylic aqua marine silver paint, and finally, the acrylic resin topcoat.
Easy one hand starting
Working together, a built-in decompression release and Digital CDI system set the ignition timing during start-up. Just 60% of the normal effort is required to pull-start the engine by hand! Electric-start models offer Auto Start Enrichment which automatically adjusts the air/fuel mixture for an even quicker, easy starting and warm-up operation. The PGM Ignition (where a reliable microprocessor accurately controls ignition timing during start-up and across the entire rpm range) provides optimum overall operation. There is also a Power Thrust Option Available too.

Honda’s revolutionary BLAST™ technology provides strong hole shot performance, getting the hull on the plane quicker. This air/fuel ratio and ignition-timing technology boosts engine torque at low RPM under rapid acceleration conditions. It’s NMEA compatible, meaning all engine data including speed, fuel consumption, cruising distance, etc can be displayed on the GPS screen
NMEA2000 compliance
All Honda outboards from the BF40 to BF250 are NMEA2000 compliant, allowing simplified connectivity with NMEA2000 electronic equipment such as sonars/fish finders, chart plotters and other devices via CANbus network technology. Cables and accessories sold separately’
Drive By Wire or mechanical rigging
The Drive By Wire engine control units offer binnacle-mounted throttle controls for as many as four engines, or side-flush mount for single engines. There is also a mechanical control unit supports up to two engines and a single-helm location as well as a side-mount control box.

Dual Stage Induction
The BF175 features Dual Stage Induction. The result is a simple, compact design that improves overall operation. The competition’s exhaust track goes through the middle of the oil pan, pre-heating the oil. Honda’s dual exhaust headers wrap around the outside of the oil pan, which not only reduces heat build-up, but also increases engine efficiency and performance. The BF175 features a unique 2-Pass Cooling System, which maintains an even temperature on all cylinders. This results in increased cooling efficiency and long-term durability.

Not only does the BF2.3 pack enough punch to push a boat out to sea, it's light enough to be carried back to the car. Thanks to the ergonomic carry handle fitted to each engine, the BF2.3 can be taken virtually anywhere. Despite the engine's size, the BF2.3 boasts all the benefits of Honda's advanced four-stroke technology, its lightest 2.3hp four-stroke available - even lighter than most two-stroke outboards.
Low maintenance
Thanks to the transistor ignition, you’ll get maintenance-free, high-energy output for quick and easy starts with the BF2.3. The forced air-cooled engine also means there is no water pump to worry about being plugged with weeds or damaged by sand. The BF2.3's Shallow Water Drive also allows you to run in shallow water and greatly reduces the risk of engine damage.
Integral fuel tank
A 1L integral fuel tank facilitates easy removal and portability as one unit. The vent is able to be closed during transport or for extended storage periods. The engine can run for up to 55 minutes at full throttle on a tank of fuel.
Centrifugal clutch
The Honda BF2.3 comes standard with a centrifugal clutch. As a result, the engine is able to maintain a smooth idle and automatically engage the prop above idle speed when the throttle is advanced. It’s like having a neutral position. The engine is able to maintain a smooth idle and then upon advancing the throttle it automatically engages the propeller above idle speed.
360 rotation and optimum maneuverability
Get in and out of tight spots with ease, or go in any direction on the compass, with this extremely maneuverable engine. The reverse thrust allows you to get to where you want to go efficiently. A twist grip throttle also allows for precise throttle control, and the throttle tensioner minimises driver fatigue.

Engine protection and security
Alert systems monitor critical engine functions including engine temperature, oil pressure, fuel injection and charging. This notifies the boat operator of any abnormal conditions. An audible buzzer and warning light will be activated if a fault is detected (BF40 – BF250), whereas on non PGM-FI outboards (remote control models), the alert system will monitor engine temperature and oil pressure.
